Day 6,Saturday 7 April
My thoughts after a week's
workshop at Quiraing Lodge.

The joy of living with the sea.
Constant sound of the sea.
Sitting in bed drinking morning tea looking out at the sea.
View of Flodigarry Island.
Light on the water.
Some mornings have been very windy with white horses - others
relatively calmer. Every morning a different light on the water,
and on the island.
Watching the light on the hills from the kitchen window.
Walking on the road to the slip and the sandy beach - the gulls
returning to their nests on the crags.
The warm kitchen to make a pot of tea.

Sam's organisation of the provisions in the
kitchen on open shelves creating still lifes. His home-baked bread
ready for breakfast. Straight out to photograph in the morning
light - Robert's pink shop and petrol pumps on the sea road -
houses of Stenscholl - across the peat to the sea.

Breakfast and Sam checking over the menu for
the day. Detailed lists of provisions, vegetables and masses of
herbs.
Along side all of this the enjoyment and fun
of working on the computers to create pictures.
Off and out for a wonderful walk on the Quiraing. Fantastic views
and changing skies. Beautiful colours in the rocks and lichens
- dry heather and green mosses. Still water and across the sea
to the snow- capped peaks on the mainland. Being alone in the
vast landscape - listening to the hills.

Lunch at the Flodigarry Hotel - sitting on the
terrace with views back to our beach and island - over to the
mainland.
The joy of living with the sea.
The wonder of it. People come and go - live and die - the sea
continues to ebb and flow - chucking the rocks and boulders over
and over again.
